Hi folks, not sure what else to call this effect but does anyone know if this effect can be avoided. I have a series of vertical elements that are very close together and as a result give this strange visual type of banding.

I can tell you its called a moiré effect. and you are going to have this problem with an image like that. increasing the anti-aliasing samples is probably going to be your best bet here

The video anti-aliasing filter gives usually good results with moiré patterns.

The one in max. Available with scanline and vray (not sure mr has one...?)
