press ctrl+n to clear your space. Now click-drag your model again and press edit before doing ANYTHING ELSE. If you fail, your file will be wiped. Just one of the quirks of zbrush.

[edit] okay, your file won't be wiped. But why didn't you try a click drag?

[edit deuce] of course, yours might be a special case where the file is actually fucked.

I haven't been saving by Tool, I've saved through Document/Save As. The Tools pallet doesn't display the Tool I'm working on in order to select it then drag it onto the stage.

I've don't that before, drag a Tool onto the Stage but when first starting Z, the Tools aren't loaded and when opening from a document or Project, the .ZBR doesn't open in Edit mode.

That time I opened a document and the Edit button wasn't active, when I dragged another instance of it appeared and edit worked. I then hit CTRL > N and all was is quirky

I've never had an issue. Then again, I ONLY save the tools, and never save projects. I'd make a new tool and append your quicksave version in... if possible.

[edit] you replied 1 second before me. Damn you for breaking the communication chain.

[edit] actually, it was 38 seconds... but who's counting.

I'm good. So when I open a tool and edit doesn't work I Ctrl N and drag an other instance of the tool out and the edit button may or may not work
