zbrush + 3ds max
show user profile  MrCaseStudy
i just thought i would have a quick mess about with zbrush, so i created this little creature, but i have noticed that there seems to be a few cuts around the model, as you can see the 2 i have highlighted here, i dont have a clue how to get rid of them.

what am i looking at here?
the high poly from zb imported into max and rendered or the low poly with a normal map applied?

if it appears on the high poly in zb then the smooth brush is all i can advise (shift and left click)
with rgb off as it's poly painted or it'll smooth out the paint too
could be verts with 5 edges- which zb doesn't smooth too well- but it doesn't look like it to me

its a high poly from zb to max and rendered, they do not come up in the zb file, but once i export it to max then that is where the problem lies.

maybe have a look at the smoothing groups
could even be a part of the inside upper mouth jutting through- but i doubt it
did you use the pinch brush in that area at all? or any other brushes with a pinching affect
does the wireframe show a higher density or is the ridge/ cuts geometrically described?
might even be that the red wax material in zb just didn't show it clearly enough- it has a very subtle smoothing effect that can hide some high frequency detail

Hey sir, I can try to help, could you show a screenshot of the geometry up close, with edged faces?

There you go matey, hopefully that will be of some help?

Also when i import it to max, when i pick the OBJ import options at the bottom where it says preset i pick Zbrush, and then when i go into max this is how it first appears, in like 25 different pieces, i attact them together and then it becomes one, is that where im going wrong?

might be that your polygroups define the smoothing groups in max

select the entire element in poly mode (in max) and autosmooth the whole thing, see if that changed it
good luck

i figured it out, when i was on the import options i didnt tick import as a single mesh and import as editable poly, once i clicked that it was fine. :D cheers for the help though guys!
