z y x question!

hello forumers.

id like to know why the z axis doesnt show in my view ports as the depth axis,but rather my objects go up and down when using the z arrow.look at the screen shot how my axis coordinations appear.

Are you coming from a different program like Maya? X Y Z axis are dependent on nothing really... If I were to make a program, and wanted the X axis to relate to height, I could certainly do so. There seem to be standards (like Z being depth (Maya) or height (Max)) or the X and Y axis on a graph, but I don't think there is anything saying Z always has to = depth... I don't know if that answers your Q

hello

no im a newbie to 3ds max,but have used programs like adobe flash,and photshop which use z as the depth axis.i was just curious incase i had accidently turned on a setting and was seeing different coordinations.
