Yes it does!! I bought a cheap laptop with 1gb, upgraded to 2gb and the clock says 33% of ram is being used with no programs open!

It's incredible how much RAM Vista uses, CS3 continually pegs really high in the physical ram usage on Vista, compared to XP and OS X. I have had to switch over to my iBook to finish jobs in Photoshop because Photoshop was running out of memory in Vista, and I have 4gb of RAM on my Vista machine and only 1gb of RAM on my iBook! It's insane.

My XP crapped out yesterday so I "upgraded" to Vista. So far no problems. It even came with Service Pack 1 already on the disk.

I forget what I was looking at, the requirements for some game I think. It took more RAM to run the same game on Vista than on Windows XP. If the newer version requires more system resources to do the exact same thing I believe that would fall under the definition of "downgrade."

The only thing better in Vista from XP is... DirectX10 which appeals mostly to gamers for now.

i was just about to upgrade to XP64 after careful consideration, then a mate who uses max and final render told me he upgraded to vista64 a little while back and has no complaints.
i think i'll be upgrading to xp64 though.

ms have announced another couple of years support for xp too.
