XP Pro x64 issues?
show user profile  loki
Hey fellow MFers,

since Vista Business pisses me the hell off (mainly because Rhino isn't working the way it's supposed to be due to the lack of OpenGL support) i'm going to switch back to XP. I considered to get XP x64 and throw in 2 more gigs of ram. Now I'm not sure if all my software will work flawlessly. Does the Adobe CS3 support 64bit and does it run smoothly? can i run Max on 64bit without having a 64bit version? I mean meanwhile and with reduced performance until my University gives me a 64bit version?
And last but by no means least: does rhino work? These 3 are my main productivity software packages which i need to run stable.

Running a 32bit Max on XP64 here. It installs under the 32bit emulator... thingy. I use Photoshop CS, so I can't imagine CS3 being off. Again installed under the 32bit emulator.

so there's a 32bit emulator? does it lag or seem slow?

mainly my c2d being a 64bit CPU + the extra ram is my reason to change to 64bit.

32bit apps run using WOW64 on 64bit versions of windows. On XP and Vista it isnt emulating anything, it's just pointing at a different set of libraries and locations that the 32bit application is looking for. There's no noticable slowdown.
