Wild Pockets now Open
show user profile  ddf99
Wild Pockets is now open for general registration. We're interested in getting 3D models uploaded to test compatibility and performance (with or without animations).

Max/Maya plugins can be found here: http://wildpockets.com/artexporterdownloads

Please let me know if you have any questions. Apologies in advance if this is the wrong section to post this in.

After reading the "what is Wild Pockets" part of your site, I have no idea what this thing is...

lol, your new here huh? well here are four names that you should probably watch out for. killerbee, bolteon, advance software (your competition, sort of, maybe you're his replacement) and dd, who i expect will bug you just because your names are so similar.

almost tempting to download this so i can post 3d on here, but outside maxforums, i see no use for it. you could sell it to people like spoon and whoever the hell runs cgsociety. (because i'm sure spoon has plenty of cash to buy random stuff for maxforums)

Hi horizon,

Wild Pockets allows you to upload your 3D models into our service. Once there, you can then publish your content onto any webpage by using a unique URL that we supply you. We host the content, but you determine where it gets published. It's similar to Youtube where the videos can be embedded in any site but the content is on the Youtube servers.

Here is an example of a link that if you were to embed in your website would display a 3D model:

Any models you create could be published on your own website for clients to review. Education & training, games and simulations could be some uses of the platform.

BTW, Wild Pockets is free to use.

Hope this helps clarify

I should have mentioned:

To view the model, you'll need to do a one time driver install (about 1.5 MB).

The model is interactive using:

Left Mouse click to zoom, click twice to zoom in closer
Hold left Mouse button while moving the mouse to rotate

Currently only Windows using IE or Firefox. Mac coming soon. Model was created using Max.

plugins? really?

are you akin to flash or java?

just saying something like this might be interesting if i didn't have to bother with anything other then typing in a web page. you'd be better off creating a seperate application like AS then hoping that the small niche your catering to is willing to install plugins in a browser experience for something they have no former knowledge of using.

and yes, look out for the likes of me and others... were the sensible ones on the forum not interested in making your bad decisions seem less stupid then they actually are.

oh, and hi... welcome to the forum; thanks for sharing your softwares existance. i hope you continue your membership here with a give and take nature, and not just dissapear now that you've sprayed your name in the snow.

I still can't see what it essentially does without installing it, and I don't know if I'll have anything to see after I install it or will I be forced to upload some of my own.

How about some screenshots or videos of it in action, instead of some links to games? And where the hell do you mention how are games made for it? How/where does the code work?

Basically, your info is too vague, I don't want to spend half an hour getting it to work just to see the purpose of it...

Maybe I can clear things up a bit...

WildPockets is a plugin for both IE and Firefox.
It's a real time game engine for your browser being developed by a company in Pittsburgh.

You can either use their drag and drop interface to make games or you can write your own scripts.

Some of my friends have used it in the past.

Well I installed the plugin but I get an error saying 'cannot connect to server blah blah blah' when trying to use it. this may be my work server blocking it, but is anyone else getting that error? im using FF3

i actually like it a lot
the only thing bothering me is that you have to upload your models onto a remote server and have no control over what happens to your intelligent property.
Rules, disclaimers and contracts don't matter as we have all learnt through the past, once your model is out there, anything can happen.
