Why my JPEGS look different?
show user profile  Justin101
Hey all,

I got an issue here.
If I open a jpeg image in my standard windows photo viewer,
it looks quite a lot darker then if I viewed the same image in Photoshop.
Why the inconsistencey? When I open jpegs in windows paint, they look
exactly the same and fine? Can this problem be fixed or should I just view
jpeg images in windows paint from now of for the most accurate result?

Thanks.

By "darker" do you mean brown ?
If so:http://www.nextofwindows.com/how-to-fix-windows-photo-viewer-displaying-yellow-or-orange-tint-for-white-and-transparent-images/

Otherwise we may need som pics

Terribly boring signature.

I once altered the colour profile of either my monitor or my graphics card and had the same problem, I found a way to return to the default color profile and all was fine.

Don't ask me how though.

Have fun going down the rabbit hole of color theory for computers and such. I did about a year and a half ago and my brain still isn't right.

Just keep it simple, our screens are RGB, Windows thinks it's CMYK, that's all.
That was a joke.

Congrats, you found my signature.

Gamma.

Try to read up on it, don't make me describe it since I'm sure I'll fuck up somewhere along the way. Different programs have different interpretations of what it means to what, max is especially funny about it since by default it gamma corrects all the source material while thats just plain wrong for all the non-visible-color maps and the jury is still out on whether its even appropriate for the rest(except for oldschool game type textures where post baking is a common thing).
