Why is this happening?
show user profile  CGIman
Hi Guyz,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with the render below. I cant understand why these lines are appearing everywhere. i.e the seats, the ceiling, one of the doors, back wall.
Im thinking its something to do with the lights iv used for the pendants. But im not sure, i mean why would it do that?

Would appreciate any help!

What renderer, lights, materials etc are you using?

Are all the vertices welded? Seems light is seeping through edges.

Yea that's strange.
I don't know how you made the ceiling but I'd trace a line over the walls in the top view and extrude it. That way it will be one solid ceiling.

Or he can weld the vertices and have the same thing without actually remaking :P

Thank you guyz for all your comments! Im using 3ds max with vray1.5
I had a play around with it and managed to locate the problem (although i still dont know why it created the lines)

I used a vray sphere light which i used to engulf the lamp shade with. Dont ask why i did that, i dont know! But I swtiched it off and it seemed to do the trick. (if you see the screenshot below you'l know what i mean)

Thought id show off the near complete interior. C+C wlecome

try lowering the shadow bias on the lights? or try lowering the ray bias in the global render options?

have never seen this happen with the mesh visible, the ray bias may fix this?

Is your scene at a very large or very small scale?

The scene is very small (what you see) But there are other older scenes in the file which iv not deleted. However, iv switched off the 4 vray light spheres now as i dont need them. But i will give the bias settings a go and see what happens.
