very worth it if you're going to use it- not so much if you aren't
go wacom i guess- great rep- big price- big choice- great perfomance
good deals on ebay or similar i think- shop around though

wacom cintiq :) worth every penny!

it's for drawing right ? in max it won't do you any good, for zbrush on the otherhand it's a must. On a budget I guess the wacom Intuos is the best buy, I've always been very happy with my Intuos 2 and I've tried a bunch of different wacom tablets.

go as cheap as it gets but try to stick to two rules: wacom and A5 sized. Wacom has a few cheap options with 512 pressure levels and you still get quality.

If you're going to choose at the lower end of the Wacom spectrum and you're thinking of choosing between the Bamboo and the Bamboo Fun then go with Bamboo Fun, it is worth the minor increase in cost.

Though if you can Intuos is definitely the way to go.

I was looking into tablets a while ago, and wacom is just simply too expensive.. So what do you guys think of the Genius lablet line?:

Every time I see tablets discussed I hear all this talk of Wacom and their over priced (IMO) tablets, is it really because they're the best or is it because no one knows of anyone else?

It's because they are the best, period.

If you're fine with having a tablet with either a corded pen, a pen with batteries, a tablet which may or may not work with your chosen program (I've yet to run into a single program in which I haven't been able to get my Wacom to work in, hell, I can even run WoW with it) and a tablet which has nowhere near the quality and support that Wacom has then by all means, get another brand.

Aye, I once thought that all tablets must be similar enough for me to get a cheapo thing and be happy with it. I went with a "Trust" A4 thingy..., AA batteries in the pen, pretty rough surface, problems from day one with sensitivty, eventually the thing just stopped responding and I threw it out. Did try to contact support in the early stages of "uh oh"-ness... but never got any feedback.

I imagine my experience does not accurately reflect the state of other Trust products... and I do have bad luck when it comes to technology... but yeah, my Wacom Intuos 3 is just a dream. No problems what so ever, I take it into uni with me from time to time if i'm doing some texturing, and i've had other classmates saying how 'smooth' it is in comparison to whatever their tablets are.

In short, The Intuos 3 was rated "Phwoar, very nice!" by a room full of people who all own different tablets (some even other Wacom brands)

I love my Wacom Intuos 3... its my favouritest gadget of all. I have the little A6 one, everyone says the bigger the better, but I like my littl'un because I can reach both corners without moving my hand far.

Though, I can't imagine anyone ever using the regular mouse that came with the tablet - its designed to use on the tablet itself ... but it was horrible to use!

The tablet with its pen is comfy to use, I often wil be using it for graphics, and forget entirely I'm using it and browse the net and whatnot for ages without a problem at all. It works a dream, highly reccomended.
