Aside from a pants full o' CPU's....

It is a good question. Where the hells is a serious uber-tech answer from AS when you need one?

Is there some hardware restriction that they just cant get them to run faster without burning up or what?
I see they are doing other things like packing in more cores and all that,.....but why arent we running 8ghz CPU's yet AS?

They pretty much have technology done for the coming 5 years. They just want to sell as much as possible of every generation. Long term strategy.

^ what i was thinking. Basically rinse/make the most money out of current manufacturing setup until releasing a more costly generation..

Sandy Bridge CPUs overclock to 5ghz easily because of their smaller manufacturing process. Just overclock you nerds!

Basically we can't get things running a lot faster at the moment, so we have to do more things at the same time to improve performance. Hence GPUs and more efficient & effective multi-core CPU architectures.

I'm just gonna network hundreds of 286, 386 and 486 DOS machines to equal a quad 12 core processor... how many you think i'm gonna need? should work right????
