What kind of mouse do you use for arting?
show user profile  digs
im using one of these, and I've decided I hate it

it's really comfortable if you just plop your hand on it and use the left and right clicks, but it's small? idk... my buddy swears by them, but i've never had any luck with these razers.. I need one that's good at arting for many of the hours

I think I remember liking logitech, but i don't want to drop 100 bucks on another mouse just to hate it

I like my Deathadder. Don't judge me.
You might want to try one of those vertical mice. They claim to have more natural grip then the regular ones so you may use them for longer periods. I personally never tried those so not sure if you can use them as accurately.
When it comes to bigger mice there's not a lot to choose from. The Logitech G700 is very comfortable, but a 100$ is to much I think.

I've had a razer mouse since my uni days, gone through about 3 of them which I suppose isn't too bad considering it was about 8 - 9 years ago.

But, I never really liked them too much, but I didn't know why. Last year I got myself a Logitech G302 and it just beats the crap out of anything else I've used. It's hard to explain though, and I imagine it's all down to personal preference but it just feels a lot more solid and accurate.

I've always wanted to try one of those thingies that I think Nik uses, some 3d space ball thing? But I use my wacom a lot too, so that + a regular mouse is probably enough for me.

Seriously, most comfortable, light mouse I've ever come across.

the mx1000

yeah, its old.. doesn't have a great DPI sensor, is heavy, battery is for shit and the rf receiver is bigger than the mouse but its the most comfortable mouse in the world. I'm on my 3rd one, had to get the last one off ebay for like 100 bucks ;/ they should really do an updated rerun.

i used to use the mx518 like Sir Manfred's got but the feet unglued and i lost one
so i got a cheapish logitech G300 which is a downgrade
but i agree the 518 is a superb mouse- had it for 10 years and no mechanical problems at all

[edit- just ordered some new feet for the 518 on amazon :) hopefully i'll be trapping my little finger under the edge of the mouse like the old days- miss my weirdly pointed little finger callous

Same here, I'm using an old logitech. A Mouseman dual laser, which is probably 15 years old now. I love this mouse. As soon as they started becoming hard to find, I purchased 2 or 3 of them. So far, even my original one is still working just fine. Just clean it real good every now and then.

I don't think they are made anymore, but it's my favorite mouse. It feels very natural to hold.

If I'm painting something (photoshop, Mari, Nuke) I'll use a wacom tablet. -

big ol' logitech seems like a good choice. I have a large intuos 5 at home but I can't push verts around with it in max. I pretty much only use it for zBrush photoshlop and topogun, and if I retop all day long I feel like my wrist will shatter

>>big ol' logitech seems like a good choice

I've got no love for logitech as a brand, they just happened to make one mouse that I really like (don't like the rest).

A brand that I do like is a4tech, they make the best el cheapo mice. I like their designs for their "higher end" mice too but they are just too small for my hand. *i used quotation marks because their "high end" is still pretty low in the overall price range of mice.

I had alot of hand problems, numbness, pain etc. Apparently some of due to poor posture but also the mouse I was using. I had alot of electrical tests to rule out carpal tunnel.

I switched to a vertical mouse and the problems all disappeared within a few weeks. I know this sounds like a fabricated testimonial but, honestly, it's true. I'll never go back to a regular mouse again.

It all makes perfect sense really. Not twisting your wrist whilst you work.

Does take some getting used too though. Mine cost £20 and no complaints.

Would definately recommend if you have any discomfort using your current mouse.

I was keeping eye on the vertical mice for some time now. Unfortunately they are hard to get in my region. Did you do some gaming on it?
