What hair plugin do you use

I've heard that a lot of people don't use Max's built in hair and fur app. I've heard of things like hair farm and such. What is today's most popular hair modelling and rendering tools for 3ds max?

Ive used hair farm's demo and that was pretty fantastic, I've gotta admit.

If I was going to do make animations all the time I'd definitely invest in HairFarm. It appears unbeatable with respect to both render times, quality and interface.

So, I'm guessing the only inexpensive way of doing it is using hair and fur...
Haha, I don't think any 3d modeller has 4 digits to shell out on just hair. That's a bit ridiculous.

looks like you can get it free as a student:

otherwise, there may be some cheaper or free solutions but I'm unaware of any decent ones.

hairfarm looked like an awesome new product, pitty it was overpriced from the very beginning.
i remember wanting to buy it and be shocked by the steep price.
last message on their news forum dates of the beginning of last year and is a rant about piracy...
selling it for half at launch would have propelled this into a huge succes, alas.

I use the built in hair but recently also the vray hair object

i vaguely remember trying hair farm around a year ago, i dont remember why but i concluded it sucked and offered no improvement over h&f. Oh no wait i do remember - it doesn't really improve the styling workflow at all, its pretty much a clone in that department and its compatibility with MR is nonexistant.

I think it was alot easier to use then Max's. its complicated, but once you get past that, the results are pretty good.

$1000 for a hair plugin?

I think they should have priced it more competetively.
