What does it take to make this vid?
show user profile  mclexer12
I month ago i saw this video and I thought that it is realy good.

Link:http://vimeo.com/14852606

I'm mainly interested in the transformers animation. So my question is clear , what does it take to make that video or a similar one?
And another question does anyone know a tutorial or guide about transformers ...?

Thanks

Cmon guys, it's not THAT hard, you obviously don't have the "make pretty" button.
It's included in the latest subscription update. (you do have to call Autodesk doh to enable the download)

First you need to find 2 douch bags to walk around like that with no shirts on.
Second....
What experience do you have in MAX? Just the modeling alone can take a long time to figure out. if you're asking this question, i'm guessing your new to max so figure in time to learn how to use max before you would be ready to jump into even starting the modeling on something that complex. The Materials are another beast. You have to figure out how to unwrap and texture something like that. That could take even longer to figure out then the modeling. Actually making the textures is a whole artform in itself. The animation is another major undertaking. Figure that the company who created the original transformers Movie not this one (dreamworks i think) had huge crews working on it for over a year. Once you get it to transform, you need to animate it running around. Then you have to be able tto match it to the environment. then you need to add in lighting to match the environment. Then you need to render the animation to the same video frames as the original video. then using after effects or another comp software, you need to integrate the animation into the video. then you need to work any special effects into the video.

I'm sure that i missed some steps or have them in the wrong order... but that i think that would be the basic idea.

So if you have never done anything in Max, aftereffect, or photoshop, i would say, without trying to sound like a total dick, it would be out of your range of ability as a first project.

wow, lol.....

I watched about halfway through, and then almost came back here to say it was within the reach of many members here, since i mean, those phones weren't THAT impressive, they were quite well done, but i doubt there's more than maybe 100 parts in each?

It's a lot of work still, but completely within the reach of several on here.

Fortunately i waited until he started walking back to the car...

Yeah, that takes a lot of work.
