Website SEO
show user profile  PS3D
Hi folks,

As you may know I have recently re-designed my website, using Wordpress.

I'm now wondering how to improve my SEO, in order to attract more visitors.

There seems to be loads of free SEO plugins for Wordpress (Yoast, All in one, etc), however I wondered if any of you guys knew much about this before I went ahead and installed any.

Cheers,

Paul

Really a bit more of a marketing question than a technical SEO question....

It doesnt matter (nor should you care) about how many 'visitors'. The only hits that count are the ones from people who commision work: might hire you.

You want visits from people that commision 3D work. Not so much visits from random peeps.

true?
edit: btw- friggin awesome work there man!

Thanks mate.

Yes, you're right. The main issue is not about the number of hits i get - but more about if someone wants to find a 3d visualiser, that they can type '3d visualiser' into google, and my page might show up.

Currently the only people who see my site, are people who i tell the address to! ie, existing clients, and you guys!

@PS3D - Your work is really quite fantastic and i'm in the exact same SEO boat but i wanted to let you know while your website is nice and clean you may consider more optimization - I have a 60mbps connection and the images took about 20-25 seconds to load and begin showing far too long to keep an interest for most.

you may consider loading the first image then start pre-loading the rest afterwords instead of all at once maybe even downsize the images a tiny bit?

Any how - Fantastic work again, good luck!

Thanks for your comments mate - much appreciated. I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to this sort of thing. Could you explain how I can increase my optimization?

I've heard of some plugins that can actually increase the speed in which your website loads, such as W3 Total Cache. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/w3-total-cache/

Would you recommend using this?

Hey bud.

I set up our companies web page last year with wordpress. Or rather.. I got some shitty template from a "webdesign" firm and was told to fill it with content and make it work.

We use yoast SEO plugin.http://yoast.com/wordpress/seo/

It is incredibly easy to setup and, among many other usefull things, allows you to fill out several SEO fields for each page you create. There are good guides on how to use it on its site. We have achieved really good results with it and its not hard to use at all (with a bit of reading). So I wholeheartedly advice you to give it a shot. :)

Seriously, if you install that addon (its free) and read this:http://yoast.com/wordpress/seo/
and arent retarded (your not) you will give you website a great big oomph. Have fun!

It will be hard to get a good ranking for your website, with or without plugins. Loading speed of your website is fine, i see no point in tweaking that. The 2 most important things to get a good ranking is content (meaning lots of text, images wont do much for you), and incoming links from pages that have a high pagerank (an easy way to see the pagerank of a page is using one of those browser addins that show pagerank). The fact that your website has no text content is a serious handicap, so incoming links from highranking pages is what you need. But that isnt easy to achieve.

Do make sure your have a google sitemap plugin and that your sitemap is registered in google webmaster tools.
