8! Ways to Make a Wireframe Image
show user profile  Undersky
And to build on nik's suggestion...

1. Convert to editable poly
2. Select all pollies in sub-object
3. Extrude by poly ever so slightly
4. Switch to mental ray / Vray
5. Assign an ambient occlusion shader to the teapot
6. Render
7. Take the beers from groty
8. Don't worry
9. Be happy

I think it would be cooler to come up with the hardest way of doing a wireframe instead =) Hardcore tutorials!

i like to print out smoothed views of my models then go over it with black pen then scan them back in again and trace round that with splines and build the wireframe mesh from that

[edit] i think 81 ways to make a wireframe is a bit ambitious

my method is way superior to all others..
i have provided a screenshot because no words are needed
you willnever go back to mr groteys cumbersome ways of painfull mapping with no room for creativity.

What about the lattice modifier way? or you could select all edges, and use "make shape from selection" and make that spline renderable.

or you could use this plugin;

You could also render out each face of the mesh, save as .png or some other format that retains alpha. Bring each png into photoshop on seperate layers, and add an outer (or inner!) glow with a "normal" blending option, 100% opacity, 100% spread and 1px in size. Apply this to every layer. Done!

Should only take you about... 3 days, on a 1000 poly model.

Does this come with support?
I downloaded the method 8 shader but it's not working. I put the files where the manual told me to, but do I need to edit an .ini file or something? Or maybe it does work and I just can't find it :P

you have to be kidding me, i thought these were made with the line tool in Photoshop.
I feel so stupid right now I have wasted HOURS of my life. How did i miss this thread earlier, I always wondered how you guys got such good lines.

Good god I feel dumb.

Lord Panzer: I recall having problems using it before I knew how to, you put it where they tell you to then it just doesn't appear in the list right? the thing is its a map type not a full material, so you need to add it to the diffuse slot of a standard material rather than have it as the material itself. I'll go and add that to the description.

Do I really gotta add those extra methods?

Poop: The strange thing is I really cant tell if you're joking here :/

Right I've added the create shape from edges method and the procedural material method (this one still does that strange effect where the larger the face the thicker the lines, not sure if I like that, but it does work in scanline so cant complain.
