VRAY Skydome easy question...

Hi, I have a sky dome shape, a sky texture and a vray light material slot:

When i place the bitmap in the texture slot and tick, affect direct illumination and emit light on back side, the material ball shows the sky image fine, but when i place it onto the dome , or even just a plain box it just appears bright white. I have tried playing around with the colour and intensity but it still does it.

Any ideas

Just to clarify...

Are you using Lights -> VRay -> VRayLight; Type: Dome

Hi, no stupid mistake , i didnt click preview in viewport button. Its all fixed now :) Btw do you know any good skydome uvw unwrap tutorials?

you are trying to pump a vray light material into the dome light? you don't need the light material, you can pump a map or a texture directly into the texture slot in the dome light. -

Im not using a vray dome light at all. I have half a hollow sphere with a bitmap of a sky on it. The material of the sphere is a vray light mtl , wanted to know why it wouldn't show up

I still think you should take a look at using an HDRI map on the Dome VRayLight. It's so simple to set up and handles shadows really well.

the correct route is using a vray light set to dome with a texture pumped into it if you need a texture or just the color you want if you dont.

that is unless you <3 noisy renders.
