In the render below my flooring tiles come up very blurred. What settings in vray should i be looking at to make the tiles sharper?

would it be to do with adaptive DMC or the actual; filter I am using?

settings are:

Adaptive DMC - min 1 max 4
Colour mapping - exponential
Anti aliasing filter - Mitchell-Netravali
Primary GI - Irradiance map - HSph subdivs 50 / interp samples 30
Secondary GI - Light chache - subdivs 50

how big (in pixels) is your original texture map, and how does it look? post it up here if you can.

in c4d i'd advise material sharpening filters, but i'm out of touch with max. also, in c4d vray you might light to up the min value of the aDMC. also, there should be threashold value - i'd lower this.

Compare your filter settings with the same type on this page:

I don't use Vray so Adaptive DMC is a little beyond me, but if it's anything like Mental Rays min/max sample ranges, I reckon you could pump them up.

Maybe it's the texture filtering of your bitmap is causing the problem at the current angle , i always leave it at 0.5 or 0.1 for sharper details at low angle (default is 1) , maybe u should give it a shot.

I changed the filter to black man and still no change. I also upped the min subdivs to 4, and the max subdivs to 16 on the A DMC. Tile image

aye, texture looks fine. in that case it's best put a sharpening filter on the material itself. you might also want to add a normal or bump map to it too.

upping the dmc sampler to 4x16 is too high and wont make a difference.
