I've never seen that before. Need more info to work out what's wrong.

1. Is everything assigned with vray materials?
2. Using vray lights?
3. Pirated copy of vray?
4. Doing any tricks like proxies and stuff?

Have you tried opening a new scene, placing a box in it, assigning a vray material and light and testing if RT works?

Note: not sure if materials and lights need to be vray for it to work, just stabbing in the dark. Still, can't hurt to have your scene in order.

OK i just tried a newer version of vray to see that fixed it but it didn't but now i've checked it using the standard active shade and it also his all those missing : so it's not just Vray it's the actual 3ds max program. I'll try a repair on the 3ds max 2013 and see if that fixes it.

Edit:

Ok it didn't fix the problem :( I didn't use to have this, it was gradual, every time i used it it seems to add a new missing: to the list. This doesn't seem to occur in 3ds max 2012

to answer your note: you dont need vray lights, materials or cameras. standard works just fine with vray you just may get unusual results with GI enabled with standard materials (they are too bright and bounce more light then normal). In fact standard lights/materials/cameras are actually much faster - we use this production pipeline for animated cartoon series and keep render times down to 1-4minutes per frame for 1920x1080 with faked GI (Ambient Occlusion) - this works really well with vray rt too. I also have issues with RT and GI enabled - and I have a decent gpu with +++ cuda cores. I would be interested to see if this issues are fixed with vray3.

Thanks for the info Don. Interesting about that cartoon series. Makes perfect sense.
