Vray normal bake outputs in gamma 2.2
show user profile  3joez
Did anybody ever had troubles baking normals map in Vray? They always come out in 2.2.
What I've tried:

saving as 24bit tga in override gamma 1.0

tweaking color mapping to gamma 1.0 and no color mapping

saving as inverse gamma to 0.4545

Running out of options.

I have had that issue. But now whenever I bake maps (except diffuse) I just dump it in xnormal. It's the fastest normal map baker I know. It can do ao as well (though it's kinda slow at that bake).

I use a normal pass in some of my compositing stuff and I always need to do a gamma correct to the pass before I use it...

Comes out way to washed out. Outputting a 32 or 16 bit OpenEXR. I feel your pain so if you figure something out please post it here.

I had some weird issues the other day where it randomly decided to output some passes to the wrong gamma profile (But all the others were fine).

I ended up just converting those specific ones back to the right gamma in post as it was an .exr file.

Turns out that gamma reversing normal maps in ps via exposure controls returns precision issues(some 128 pixel become 127). The only workaround is duplicate the layer in an 8 bit document.
This leads me to another question, since I'm noticing sharp borders:

Do 32bit per channel images(exr, hdr...) undergo antialiasing as normal 8bit images?
