Max ray intensity is new parameter that suppresses these bright rays but only the secondary ones, leaving the primary rays intact which in turn preserves more high dynamic range output compared to clamp output.

I've been wanting this for years!

The optimisation article is a nice simple explanation of what V-Ray users should already know. Keep global settings as low as possible and adjust problem areas locally. It is very logical when you read through it.
