Vray Light + PF Source
show user profile  9krausec
In short, I need to use a vray light as a Shape Instance in 3ds's PF Source. It's not letting me select the object/light (using a vray mesh light).

Ideas? And thank you.

Hmm.. can't you apply a vraylightmtl to the particles?

yep, I could and will try that method right now. Hopefully I can get around the same effect as an actual vray light.

Cheers!

edit: The real question is, can I make a vray light material volumetric?

Just a though (I haven't tried it).
vraienvironmentfog can be confined within gizmos which can be arbitrary meshes. Using the particles geometry as a gizmo might give interesting results.

I will defiantly come back to that solution and give it a go Garp, but I call upon you once more.

So I get majorly distracted today and made a neat looking "Darth Vadar disco ball" thingy. In the Vray Frame buffer it looks great, then it seems when I save it out as any file containing an alpha map in it, it gets all screwed up. In Jpeg for it looks a bit darker then it should, but alpha doesn't mess with it.

Why would this be?

Good

Not so good

I'm working in LWF if that helps any... :(

Edit: Okay, I found a clue sort of.... It's because I am running the sRBG and working in LWF. For whatever reason sRBG is sort of corrupting my light colors as the non sRGB it seems to be working, but I want to work in sRBG space to give more depth.

Post your color mapping settings.

I also switched to Sub-pixel mapping to burn the gamma in. That seems to do the trick, still odd...

okay, this is really starting to piss me off in ways that I cannot even describe. I've been dinking with this all day so far, different methods, different settings, etc... But I still get these damn artifacts in sRGB.

Need to start this soon cause I'm leaving for the weekend. Anyone have any ideas?

If push comes to shove I won't use sRGB space/LWF.

Cheeeeers.

edit: The thing that really gets me is in VFB it looks perfect in sRGB.. It's only after I import it into AE and PS that I get the artifacts as shown in the vid below.
