VRay Elements
show user profile  adammichell
Hi

I've got a rendered animation, and now the client wants a small change.

Is there anyway of rendering out just an object in a scene, however I still want it to receive all the reflections and light bounces it would normally get.

I'm planning to comp it back in using a mask from VRay elements, but trying to cut down the render times as we have a short deadline.

In the past we have just applied a matte material to all objects except for the one we want, then colour corrected in After Effects. There are quite a lot of shots so just looking for a more efficient way.

Regards

Adam

Make the objects you don't want to render invisible to camera? It depends if the objects are in front or behind what you want to render.

I'll try that, think it might work.

Thank you.

The scene has a ridiculous amount of objects, any ideas how to make them all invisible without clicking on each one?

Select them all, right-click > object properties, uncheck renderable.

Have also a look at vrayspherefade. It's probably what you're after.

VRay Sphere Fade won't allow me to select the Gizmo I have created, any ideas?

We're running VRay 1.5

just as a heads up...

the vray sphere plugin was designed to allow changes of animated objects (a character walking around for example) to have a larger influence on the scene than just the object itself (for example the GI influence the animation change would offer without the need to re-render the whole GI calculation)

ie, in most cases you would just either set all the other objects invisible to camera (as described above) or you could adjust them to matte objects if you needed the objects that will not be seen to occlude (cover up) the object being rendered (for example the character walking around walks behind a pillar that blocks him out).

read up on matte object properties here, and in general for a bunch of usually asked questions and hopes of finding functionality:
