vray displacement map to mesh.
show user profile  wan wong
Hi,

I wonder if anyone knows if it possible to convert an object which has a vray displacement modifier so it becomes a solid mesh with the shape from the vray disp. map?

If it is not possible I'll be glad to hear other similar methods and solutions.

Use a regular displacement modifier, and collapse to mesh?

You would need a highly subdivided mesh to get the same effect.

But even though i subdivided it a lot it doesn't become the same fine detailed mesh as if i use a vray displacement.
Best thing would be if i can just add an vray mat. with disp. mat. and then use the displace mesh binding modifier and then be able to convert it to a mesh.

What i try to achieve to do is to make a certain shape by using displacement and then be able to draw lines on the surface using Graphite modeling tools.
