Having some issues issues in Vray that I could really use some help on. Just looking for a lead/speculation as where to start because I really am at a loss as to what would be causing this outside of a bug (which it may or may not be - I wanted to check here before posting on the chaosgroup forums).

Let me know please if you have any idea what's going on because I sure do not.

If you render it twice, is it consistently on the same frames? or is it random every time? Is it rendered on the same machine? or different machines?

If it's consistent on the frames every time, it's more than likely a geometry or animation/rig issue. My first thought would be to look at the animation curves, make sure there is nothing odd going on sub frame, or it might be some sort of euler flipping.

Try giving more motionblur geometry samples, like 10 or so, see if that does anything? Probably won't fix the issue, but it might shed a bit more light on it, if it's an animation issue.

If you're rendering with imbeded channels, I would take a look at the normals channel, see if anything is flipping. A velocity or UV channel might also help see something. If those 3 channels aren't already in the layers, I usually throw them in there when debugging.

I would also contact chaos support if you can't figure out something quick, they will probably want a scene file, so if you can narrow it down to a small file that still shows the issue, that would probably help.

Thanks Error. I think I just confirmed that this is a Vray bug (which I've already notified support about via the forum).

Variations I've tried-

No Motion Blur

No MB / No GI

Alembic Clipper / No MB / No GI

Standard Maya Geo Clipper / No MB / No GI

AND now....

NO clipper / with GI / With MB

There is now no flicker which was caused by the clipper. So, I'm chalking this up to a bug unless I'm being doofy about something. Thanks for the input.
