Volumetric light from Architectural Glow?
show user profile  Vinnydude
So after playing around with some self illumination stuff with the architectural materials, I was wondering if its possible to make the illumination volumetric?

I've played around with the volumetric light in the 'Environment' settings but that only seems to work with actual lights rather than objects with self illumination.

Is it possible?

I'm used that for a while ago , but as I remember you should add the ''Glare'' at rendering settings . I gonna try it .

I seem to remember than self illumination only illuminates a scene through final gathering, and then it's very inefficient. Will check on that in a bit...

Just messing around with some glare now, some quite cool effects coming form it. Will require a fair bit of tweaking me thinks!!! :P

Yeah, the self illumination is more an effect than actual lighting i've found. Its not capable of casting shadows either I don't think.

Why you just don't add an Omni light to the center of the object ? :P

That doesn't always look quite right. Like the scene i'm doing has tvs and flashing lights and stuff, so having that touch of extra light emitted from it makes a huge difference.

The glare did just the trick as well man. Was a pain in the ass to tweak as it rendered the glare AFTER the image though :P lol

But yeah, its looking good.

Whats the usual way to link pictures on here?
