Wip - (Another re-visit for reel) + Aliasing issue ques?
show user profile  marsupialmat
Hey guys

This is a re-visit of a model I did a few years ago. Trying to re-vamp it and get a few shots for a reel I'm building.

Any critiques very welcome. This is going to have a few short/slow camera moves so going for impact....well as much impact as you can get from a ford transit ;-)

Oh I'm also having an aliasing issue. Top of windscreen and along the body lines that I can't get rid of even with high AA settings .....any idea ?

Cheers
Mat

Looks like a supersampling issue rather than AA its ok on the non-glass objects. Look in the glass material options for supersampling

Hey Grotes - This is in Vray.
Are you refering to material sub-divs ?

If you aren't rendering to .exr you can use sub pixel mapping and clamp output. Otherwise you could increase the samples, maybe DMC 1 / 16, Clr thresh 0.005 (better but slower).

Ok... Never really cranked the AA settings that far before but it seems to have tightend things up. Shadow sub-divs also seemed to help. I had 1 light still set to 12 while the others are on 24.

Rendering is certainly slowing down but the shots are only a few seconds so shouldn't be a killer.

Sub pixel mapping + clamp output would give you nice clean jaggy free highlights with low sample values for example 1, 4.

Outputs already clamped. I will try some sub-pixel and pull the aa settings back to see if I can find a happy medium.
