Video Post Effect and Opacity Maps
show user profile  Petey0707
Ok, so for a particular scene I have I'm using the Video Post Glow Effect for a series of lights, in this scene I also (technically) have a box that holds an opacity map which extends in a pattern all around it (similar to that of a cage). One of the lights in the scene is behind the cage-like object, here's a picture..

Photobucket

you'll see a teal light at the top, it should be glowing blue like all the others in the scene =/, unfortunately I can't figure out why it cancels out behind the box for the life of me. I've tried Googling and searching Yahoo for answers but to no avail, so if anyone here can give me any decent instructions on how to fix the glow effect that would be awesome. I need this done for a project, so any information helps, thanks!!

PS - I heard of something about material numbers, but had trouble with it. Also, I can't use raytrace, it takes way too long to render since the scene is so detailed

Video post glow does not work through transparent materials (or in reflections)

you will have to find a creative way around it.

try this: http://www.dcgraphics.biz/Tutorials/vpc.htm

also http://forums.cgsociety.org/archive/index.php/t-135412.html

or do searches for stuff like "video post glow through transparency"

use a raytraced transparent material, it will allow the video post effects behind transparency
