good vegatation plug-in for max? night scene

for some reason while doing my science homework i decided i wanted to make a night scene on an alternative planet similar to earth, only the sun and the moon don't appear to orbit earth on the same axis. (if north on earth is up, the disk of the moon's orbit would be like a cd on it's side, whereas earth still spins like it does in reality) so that in the course of a night there, the moon would go through a full phase, from full to new. so i need a good vegatation plug-in, i plan on having an alpine type environment. i'll edit with my sky map, uploading it to photobucket.

edit: ewww, i'll blur the edges of the dark part of the moon now. yuck...

alright new question, how do i make it so that the stars near the top don't get pinched together and look wrong? also, what resolution should the map be? because 3600 by 1800 isn't right. (that was my initial guess, and thats the resolution of that image.

edit: solved my problem with the resolution. using a tilable image i've already created that doesn't have a moon, then using lighting and a white sphere with dents in it to create my moon.

how can i make the shadows from a light darker? i want the part of my moon not lit by the spotlight to be very nearly pitch black. preferably almost exactly the same color as my star map between the stars is.

i got it. my problem was that the whole world was illuminated, so what i did was put a skylight just under the moon so it lights my scene but not the moon's dark side, then a spotlight placed in a good spot above the moon to create the crescent. it has an extremely narrow spot that only reaches the moon anyway, so any point anywhere near the ground can't see it.

still hunting for some better vegetation and a good way to make grass.
the hill was a minute in zbrush, default trees, the sky is tiled with 100% illumination, which is what causes the excessive lighting. will fix that in next render

The star map.... doesn't look like stars.

[EDIT] You could try using the starfield in video post (rendering tab)
