UvWrapping Question
show user profile  9krausec
If you created the UvMap for an object, and the texture on photoshop, and had everything done, but then saw an error in the mesh at the last minute, had to delete a few polygons, will the uv be useless because the objects geometry was changed even though the only section of the model that was worked on with uvwrapping was unaffected ( with the very small change in the geomotry)? Thanks for any help. I need to know if I have to redo the texture by making a new uvmap or not.

apply a checker map material and see for yourself- up the tiling on the material to get smaller squares
if it's only one small change you should try adjusting the uv's in that area before rewrapping i guess

Alright, I think I just am not doing this whole texturing thing right or something. I will read up on it even more (I have depleted the major tutorials). See, what I have been doing works fine and it doesn't involve the checkers (which are to check to make sure your stuff doesn't stretch). I have just been Unwrapping, saving, opening, painting, saving, and putting it in a diffuse map..... But thanks for the response.

yeah, that is what I am going to do.. I am having my first run in with seams and though what I am doing is very simple I totally commend the folks who do really complex texturing projects and need to deal with seams.. I would go crazy if I had to only texture for a living....

Another question so I don't need to make another post... If someone were zooming in on an object from a distance would they use the same high detailed texture even though most the shot is from a distance, or would they switch the texture depending on how close they were to the object in that particular section of the shot... And if so, how would a person swap a texture of an object without the viewer noticing a jump in detail????
