How to let UVW coordinates share texture
Is there a way to automatically set that similar shaped faces should share UV-coordinates and textures? I have a space ship with some symmetric parts on multiple engines and I won't need them to be unique for my purpose so I can save texture map space by letting them share the same texture.
The only way I've managed to do this so far is to manually set the UV-coordinates so they overlap but if I use any packing after that they are separated again.

Unwrap half of the part then mirror/symmetry it and weld the seam

Thanks for the reply. I can't work out if your suggestion is possible when it is separate faces all together that should share the coordinates, not just a mirrored half.

Oh well you said they were symmetrical parts. Post some pics and we can see what you mean better.
