Urgent Autocad help!!
show user profile  Westcoast13
I'm working (!!) in Autocad as a favour for a colleauge and i have until 4pm to get a file sorted!!

Basically we use autocad to present parts lists. The parts are drawn in another application and imported into autocad.

I have an object that when i select it, it has a blue square (i'd describe it as the pivot point in max) which is sitting outside the image area.

How can i move that blue point or get rid of it?

Thanks in advance!!!!

I'm not sure what the box is so cant really advise how to get rid, you got a picture of it, as i may know when i see it.

Its like the end of a line type square.

If i select all, there are maybe 100 of them, but they all sit inside the image area, apart from one!

I can't post a screenshot due to pre-release copyright etc etc.

Thats a grip point, it sounds like you have a block and the base point for it was made outside of its boundary, which isnt really a big problem in most cases, why do you need to move it?

The only way you are going to be able to move it is by exploding the block (group of objects) and remake it using a different base point. (unless newer versions of autocad have the capability to edit block and move their base points, I dont know, I have to use a severely out of date version)

I've sorted it. The part (a car door) had been grouped. I used the "Explode" tool on it and that split it into separate elements (not autocad speak probably!).

Then the blue pivot point disappeared, and hopefully the last file from the massive amount that we have done has gone back, fingers crossed, all ok!!

Cheers chaps. :)

Sorry, in answer to your question Jock, it had to be removed, the client couldnt import it into their purpose built app as the image size was wrong.
