UpWaker
show user profile  mathias-soeholm
Hey :D

I've been programming all night and made an alarm clock.
It's called UpWaker, anybody wanna try it? Give feedback? :)

It's kind of my first complete programming project.

If you wanna try it, please check out http://www.upwaker.wordpress.com

It’s free, as in free beer.. It is very very free!

Well' it works, but let me tell you what you can improve on it.

Sound, alarm, current time titles would be nice, all aligned one under another.
Leave the browse button as it is but show only the filename. Makes no sense that I see e:my documents in the box.
So: Sound : filename.wav BROWSE

Also, mp3 support would be nice, I had a few wav files from nuendo recordings but don't usually have any.
Sound-less alarm would be nice too. Make the minimize button force the program to only show in system bar (or give options, even better). Then the alarm would pop up when triggered.

Make an option to change the snooze time.

EDIT: would you be interested in making such small nifty apps, I always wanted to try designing UI and making graphics for that kind of things.
Let me know

I'm working on it, currently i'm just learning C# making small usefull apps..
I'm releasing all apps i'll make free, as people might actually download them then ;)

And if you have any ideas for some simple usefull apps, i'd definately like to hear :D

cool program, agreed with horizon though. It's a little confusing to use at first. I feel like the current time should be large. Perhaps you could add a list of times to choose from. Also DateTime has a .ToString() function that can be used to properly format it simply (10:49) instead of (1049). Perhaps some error checking on whether or not the main textbox is blank would be good as well.

If you ever need any help let me know, I'm actually pretty good at c#.

Horizon if you're interested in making these apps, download Visual Studio 2008 Express C#: http://www.microsoft.com/express/Downloads/

It's very easy to make some cool programs in no time at all.

Not really into programming, I'd like to do graphics for them though, and help with UI, ideas, testing...

I thought about the 00:16 and 0016 thing.

But i'm writing the time as 0016 so people know how to type the wakeup time in the txtbox..

The program then keeps checking

if (txtTime == currentTime)
