Unlink objects but keep hierarchical animation

Hi, I am looking for a way to create an animation with linked objects (like character bone animation, but only with objects, so much simpler) and then unlink the objects, keeping the animation for every object the same. If you unlink an object from it's parent, the animation no longer takes into account how the parent was moving and your child object retains only the keyframe animation relative to the parent. However, I want to keep the parent animation intact for the child, so combine the child animation with the parent animation and store it as the animation for the child. Afterwards, unlink, and that's it. I hope there is an easy way to do this.

It would probably be easy with maxscript, however I have no experience with it.

Make a search on scriptspot. Not sure but I think there are several scripts there to bake animations.
