Unity shader expert required

Hi, we are trying to achieve this quality for diamonds " ".

We have tried HardSurface Pro, using HSP diamonds look more like a glass than diamonds. The big problem for us is glitter effect when the diamond moves or rotated.

Anybody have ever worked on diamonds in Unity?

3 seconds of googling gave me this. And a lot more.

Also, the "glitter effect" is called Lens Flare. Unity can do it. Google it.

Have tries this :) it looks more plastic than gem or diamond. Unity lens flare does not give pretty effect i am going to try ultimate bloom. Was looking for someone who have worked on something like this. I will have to play much with shaders to get the realistic result.

ermm, sorry for the spoiler...but them diamonds ain't *done* in Unity....they *ARE* Unity Diamonds...

"Unity Diamonds appear nearly three times larger than its actual carat weight.
3 times the look, for a 1/3rd of the solitaire price"


edit: I've had a few shandys, Unity in the title is just a coincidence right ?

I'm guessing he googled Unity Diamonds.

Besides, no one buys diamonds from africa any more. Switzerland is much easier.

LionDebt, someone showed me this and his client have provided this result.
FX, that's what i thought that Unity would be some standard or company, but the client said it is done in Unity.
I think it is a simple animation in some rendering engine. FX, you think it is not done in Unity?

I haven't a clue, if it is Unity it's mighty impressive, those lens flares and dazzles are pretty accurate.

I think it's an actual video with strategically placed lights and clever filtering, maybe a star / bloom effect in AE ? look at the fine detail on the metal at 0:28...looks real to me.

So I'd say either a 3D rendering or an actual video with post work. Real-time in Unity ?...I doubt it, unless there is a quality lens / dazzle / bloom shader you can apply to a video.

I'm 98% certain your client is just massively confused because of the use of "unity". The video you posted is not in anyway related to the unity game engine.

As for faking it, on-top of some decent glassy shader reflecting a colourful environment, you could add a particle system with the mesh as an emitter, and just randomly generate those "sparkles".

Or, it might be easier to mess around with bloom. I'm not sure of its limits but you might be able to tweak it so it really only picks up the brightest of colours (ie, when a specular highlight rolls across the diamond), and have it boost that.

Ha Unity diamond!

Like the link FX sent over, it's the type of diamond not the program.
That video is a poorly compressed 720 video with bad banding in the Background not a real time render.
