Unable to undo any edits made while poly-modelling

I've just been modelling a hi-poly syringe, made with a hollow tube with the end ring faces cut off to allow me to create the rest of the model (The needle, the "pump" and other stuff). Sometimes things get messed up, for example, i'll be extruding borders, then randomly the border I'm moving will shoot off downwards, so naturally, I hit CTRL+Z to undo, but nothing happens (this is just one example, its happened a lot of times on this particular project). Anyway regardless of those weird "spasms", I cant undo ANY changes I make to the model. I just went to add the sharp point to the needle by rotating the border of the end of the cylinder, but found it distorted the whole needle, so I tried to undo, but NO, thats not happening...

Its nothing to do with my scene undo levels, since I have that set to 100. Everything in the scene is default and I'm using an "editable poly" for the mesh itself. I've never had this problem before so its got me thinking.

The only possible reason I can think of, is that the model goes lower than the default grid, but that cant have anything to do with it, can it?

Does anybody know what might be going on here? If you want screenshots to give you a better idea of the situation, just ask and I'll stick some up.

Edit: Okay.... I just restarted the program and it fixed itself. Lol whats up with that?

The undo feature has been buggy, like, forever. Once it gets awol from the scene, it usually doesn't come back.
Restart max and merge your models into the new scene. This should solve it.

Thanks, yea its strange, it just fixed itself after I restarted the program. Luckily this time I didn't have to save anything into a new scene (although it was only one object anyway).
