ue4, perforce, chunkhost - online server things
show user profile  digs
Right now I'm using a laptop as a server - me and some ppl are working on a game in ue4 and are using perforce for source control

I want to put our server online so my laptop doesn't have to run 24/7

a friend recomended i use ChunkHost, but he said it's only linux based

so with chunkhost, im wondering if I could install and run a linux based perforce server there, and connect to it from windows/mac based p4v clients on our local machines?

or if anyone can recommend some other solution that'd be cool, im new to setting up server stuff

so, for an update to this thing... I was able to connect to my online server via putty and remote desktop - but I don't know how to install shit (anything) to the remote disk space

ie - when i "log into" my disk space (using w/e), all i see is linux command line - but I haven't the slightest idea on how to install things there

like, when you download a program to install on your computer, it gets put into "C:\yourComputer\where ever"

so I don't know how to install thisThing.exe to my remote linux server - something i think is in the right direction is "scp"? idk, im kinda drunk but still lost as f*k.

any pointer would b amazballs. when i figure this out i am going to make a tut

If you dont know how to use a linux command prompt, then I would probably look for something else.

For me any linux, which does not have a package manager like Synaptic, or Deb installer thing, is just too much trouble to be useful.

Afraid I cant recommend anything else though, it's not something I have ever used.

Terribly boring signature.
