Anyone looking in to it. I have been going through it and I think I might jump ship with my game to it from unity. It sure is shiny.

I've sort've done the reverse, but out of convenience rather than anything else. I can't really see myself going back to UE by choice, but if I ever have to for work reasons then that'd be cool.

I'm loving it man - Blueprint's definitely arn't as simple as Epic makes them out to be, but they are fekin cool... you going blueprint route or coding in visual studio? I'm glad they did away with unrealscript

I couldn't believe how nice that blank scene looked the first time I opened it haha

Have they did away with unrealscript? Was a bit of a pita.. Need to look into how things work with Unreal nowadays as it's been a couple of years since my last experiments with it..

I am going all blueprint until I "need" to write code. Luckily I was using a lot of Playmaker in unity and writing c# so the transition is pretty easy so far. I am just amazed how polished everything already is and the amount of tutorials and content they have released in only the first month is very impressive.

ScotlandDave - yea it's gone, it's all c++ and blueprint's now, which is a pretty neat node based c++ editor - here's a simple blueprint that determines projectile speed and some damage

I'm impressed at some of the games they've made entirely in bp's - granted it deff takes a higher level understanding of blueprints... unfortunately computers can't read our minds yet

one thing I'm not really liking is the material editor, which can get pretty convoluted and tough to read, but w/e

I'd like to know more about the versatility of blueprint before I start considering UE4 :)
How much can you accomplish using BP only? Are you restricted to FPS-games only or can you do other type of games without ever having to touch C++?

Pretty cool.. Looks like Blueprint is pretty much just exposing the methods and functions of the API in a graphical way - great for coders and non-coders alike because if there are a lot of examples to look at it would be fairly easy to convert to doing it in c++ already having a good understanding of the nodes ( ie api methods )..

As Manny says i wonder what the limitations are..

Here is a playlist of basic blueprint tutorials from Epic. Might give you a basic idea of limitations. There is also another group they recently put up on the same account as well as some blog info. I am shocked how fast they are releasing content so far.

you can do any type of game in bps. when you go to load a level template you get two options, ie, "side scroller blueprint" or "side scroller code"

right now your level template options are

basic code
side scroller
third person
top down

and they're adding "flyer" and "roller", hopefully in the next update

there are some pretty crazy examples of blueprints when you install ue4, that one i posted up above is nothing - you can even do ai coding with them

I'm excited to try it out, mainly for the shiny, but I'll need to wait a couple months to jump in.
