Two new image WIP's please crit

I've been working a lot with mental ray lighting lately trying to improve my knowledge

The first image here is a simple room arch viz attempt, models are all evermotion, and lighting is done with 1 mentalray area light 1 mentalray spotlight and a mr sky portal

I'd really like to start working more with arch viz over the next six months

This image is actually something i started 4 or so years ago as a photo modeling attempt, last night was going through old projects and decided to do something with it, this is what i've come up with so far, will redo the grass and would like suggestions on anything else you think should be done (still planning on adding lots of little details)

its meant to be a lounge chair mixed with a day bed kinda thing I think, I think its cool.

here is an update on the second one though i'm not really happy with it, i don't know where i want to take it atm.

The grass and ivy dont look right inside a shed that is obviously being used because there is a lit lantern..... anyway

the image outside the window of the first render... needs to be much brighter, almost white! :-) -

wouldnt the ivy be "outside" the shed. I thought the ivy looks good.

I thought it was a lantern on the outside of the shed, the ivy is outside too.
The bright light is coming from the inside of the shed like something strange is happening in there.

I guess reversing the view and you are looking at the inside of the shed make sense only because the base concrete along the floor suggests your on the inside and the sun is coming up outside.

the door is modeled from a photo so there is no outside side to it unfortunatelty, so without redoing my textures it has to be from inside

The ivy if far to chunky, thats the only problem I have with it, make the 'branches' thinner, they're about 3-4 times too thick

also the whole image is blurred, make the lamp the focus of the image.

i really like the arch vis one, the other lacks focus. I look at the lamp then am distracted by the beams. Nice image but it should have a purpose. as said the outside image should be brighter in the arch vis.

I'm trying to think of where i can take the door image, though i'm not sure yet, i like this as the final camera angle, but dont know what else i can add as a focus yet

anyway, here is a photoshop edited version of the arch viz, I'm going to try and make the lighting more like this mock up and brighten the outside image

Had a thought for the door image, Bung in some flys/bugs flying around the lantern, done right I think it could give the image a nice focal point.

Here is an update on the arch scene

I was planning this to be the final render (rendered it pretty high quality)
but am really not feeling the speakers, might get rid of the completely also some more texture on the couches could work better

anyway, gotsta go *eyes 1.75L bottle of jimmy*

Oh if you are adding more textures, the wall looks really smooth to me. Like its not even painted drywall, more like painted rubber wall.

From the first render to the last, much improved.
