turning a planar closed spline into a poly surface?
show user profile  jbudinoff
how do I do that? it seems so simple yet I can't find it in the help or a cursory search of maxforums!!

I have a closed planar spline shape. I want it to be a surface. what modifier does that? I'm going to hazard a guess that its something really basic...help!

Keep in mind that it will be a single, possibly weird shaped polygon, so if you want to do more than simply extrude it, you may run into difficulties. If you are going to need to do more with that surface you will have to cut eddges into it to make some geometry. If that is the case you may need to go back to your original spline and simplify it by lowering the interpolation so you do not end up with a poly that has 300 edges. Hope that makes sense.
