Trying to keep the budget down on my movie
show user profile  AntiCitizen
Ok i said before that i was making a cgi offroad movie but to get the complex enviroment needed will cost too much money on a student budget, so now it will be set on a dual carriageway/motorway (freeway for americans) and will basically be an illegal race with cars, some superbikes and a land rover, now the subaru impreza has been made but i want a suzuki hayabusa as one of the motorbikes, and the film will basically be a complete road rage between these motorway users and i might make it into an advert essentially a parody of Think adverts, basically adverts that advise you to drive carefully. Anybody good at modelling superbikes and rider would be helpful just tell me your email and a s long as you don't charge the world we can work something out.

if you buy me a hayabusa, ill model it for you :D

Sounds like the movie (short?), will be pretty cool if you pull it of, make sure to post it when your done ;).

Better super charge the hell out of the subaru, the busa has like 180hp, and 4times less weight then your impreza. :P

heres the subaru obviously not in its final rendered form including lights, that will be used in the film, yes it will be short about 2 minutes maximum and will be complete chaotic road roage on a motorway featuring bikes, jeeps and subaru's, the busa will storm ahead for the most part and be very nippy compared to the cars although i do plan for it to get annihilated by the land rover, maybe the impreza will have turbo, i would buy you a busa but they're about £9000 new and it kind of goes against my title for this thread

you could just model her head and put it on a bobble neck spring so she bounces around.

Here is my real opinion.

What you should have done is stuck with the first original project you thought of. Maybe its the off road project.

Then you forget what the stupid noobs here say "including me" and DO the project.

Maybe the project sucks and your outdoor terrain looks like crap. Who cares, render it quicly, what are you a CG wizard with banks of render slaves and pc operators that work for you!?!?!
Well you still completed a film, a CG animation, and that deserves an A on the school project. The quality of the textures and final look DOES NOT matter when you are learning. Doing a full project is more important.

That being said, your car looks fine, but I make fun of car renders here.

Go for a stylized look, it will allow you to complete the film on 0 budget because your not trying to render so many quality frames.

This is why I make fun of realistic renders a lot of times. Unless they are really good *like a few peoples here* they are useless for animation. Exception - I think is arch Viz. The arch viz grail really is photoreal. Animation , not so much....that is up for debate.

Ignore people here with photo real stuff here and make fun of you, the ones who do make fun of you here suck ballz :). Basically they are computer techs (pretty poor ones) and not artists. IMO if they were artists but just specialized in something besides modeling, they wouldnt make fun of anything you do, they wouldnt talk shit here and your Crappy original idea would be just fine looking like shit but being a complete film.

If they were putting out photo realistic multi frame animation + original material they would be supporting you here. (almost no one)
Those people have real jobs and dont smack down 16 year olds work on the internet *not talking about this thread specifically but other threads*

pay attention to the nice people here as a large amount of them work at professional companies.

I'm not talking about joking around, we all do, Its the people who disguise their shit talking directed at others CGwork as criticism

Do not take this advice literal and go back to your original project again, JUST complete a simple animation with simple stylized easy to render look and as much original material (models/pictures) as you can.
State every source which is not your original material when you turn the project in or show it to people.

Vray is awesome, but to complete an actual quick animation I suggest final render.
Use all their GI calculation techniques "character camera gi solution" + "flyby camera gi solution"
These two can get all char animation and all flyby camera movement using a solution to save time rendering. Combine in post production.
While Vray does not have a character animation solution right now only a fly by camera solution.

This is basically the major advantage of final render over vray IMO

Vrays major advantage over FR is its HDRI light. FR does not have this.

Both renderers have had both those features requested on their forums and I have a feeling both vray and finalrender will have both those options in a couple years.

Notice im talking shit! Well im not an artist.
I'm shameless, I have no material to defend.

speaking of photo realism, if you want to find work you almost always need some photo realistic scenes in your portfolio, clients who uselly have no clue about art will look at your reel, see pretty realistic pictures then give you money to do the same for them.

That being said, I love stylized art, I see a lot of it at the animation festival siggraph we have here every once in a while, the creativity is amazing.

Umm.... A weird hobby of yours indeed... But I can see where it could come in useful, if applied correctly? WTF? Do they have faces?

Hhahahah blosk ! lolol
Do you sculpt in Zbrush?

I agree that having photo-real samples in a portfolio is very important, it really does show the extent of your abilities.

I'm not sure if the majority of clients actually need work like that and can pay for it, although they would love to have it for themselves :) Its kind of a wow factor.
