Transparency problem with sequence
show user profile  UpsideDownNed
This is so odd it might even be a bug. I'm using Max 2011. I'm trying to render an animating object out to a sequence of .PNGs so that I can make a sprite sheet out of them.

I want to save out an alpha channel so that I have a nice anti aliased edge around the sprites.

However, when I view the saved images they all appear semi transparent.

If I tick the "Don't Anit Alias Against Background" box in the render preferences and then render the same animation, the resulting sequence of images are fully solid but minus the antialiased edge.

I'm using Gimp or Photoshop to view the saved images. The software that I use to turn the images into a sprite sheet also shows the same problem.

I'm feel I'm missing something obvious because this is a pretty standard use for Max. Am I just using the wrong programs to view the files?

ned

Thanks, I just discovered that using Mitchell Netravali filter in the render options is causing me problems - if I switch filter the problem is fixed.
