You're getting ads from Microsoft pop up in your OS?

Which version of Windows? What do these ads look like?

No. You have to comply. Become apart of the Windows 10 collective. One of us. One of us.

Or maybe try this -
http://winsupersite.com/windows-10/disabling-windows-10-upgrade-notification

Just did a quick google, don't know if that will fix it or not. Also... if you do ever upgrade to windows 10 keep in mind that you need to turn off the default "we are spying on your ass" settings which apparently record every move you make and is very intrusive.

Good luck.

... and the "use my bandwidth to transmit updates to other people's PC's" option.

I've followed that quite a few times, and the Windows 10 icon keeps coming back. Effing Microsoft. I don't want Windows 10. I tried it and I didn't like it.

Since ad space is not free and they've been using my monitor as their personal billboard for a year, I'm gonna send them an invoice.

Markoid, nice find :)

You tell them Neo! don't let the matrix control you ;)

Just cause it has to be asked... Are you sure its Microsoft and not some bad adware? I have win 10 on my laptop and no such annoyments.

Granted I don't use it as often as my pc that has win 7

I've disabled all the online features just to make sure. Personally I don't remember when was the last time that I needed a new service pack update for my windows 7.

Never been bothered by them, first thing I do on a new install is turn of automatic updates on win 7 64...prevention is better then cure.

They stopped doing service packs ages ago. It's just updates now.
