Tip of the day - Die Dustbunnies Die !
show user profile  soontekk
grab a small brush or pencil
put a new bag in ur nilfisk suck-o-matic
open all ur systems
suck suck suck
pencil clean all ur fans, air intakes and cooling fins
you'll be amazed!
i know i was.

with this heat ur systems need all the clean air they can get to be less hot and less noisy
heck, i might even have saved you from a core meltdown...

let me know if u did it and how it went plz :D
good luck

I did it, and now all I have is a dustless machine with pencil doodles all over it. I don't know why... but they're mostly penis shaped.

I think I have to sue you now.

Its not adviceable to use a vacum cleaner on your hardware, because of static electricity.

use air pressure instead, I mean from a proper compressor(I hope they are called in english) not those useless cans of compressed air.
This way you can get rid of even smokers dust, which is just plain fcking disgusting.
I am aware that not everybody has a compressor at home, but it is likely that you know someone who does, and it is just the fastest and most efficient way to clean a computer.

Terribly boring signature.

lol Dave, i meant 'penseel' which is dutch for a small paintbrush
good luck with ur penixes (the above is a disclaimerbtw :o)

never had any issues with static lectrixity but you should watch out using compressed air as it tends to refridgerate on expansion and condensate on the air outlet basically turning into a lethal garden-hose of pure evil !
plus i don't want the dustbunnies to sit around and regroup and keel me after either !

oh and i forgot to mention i first fitted the vacume head in to my pants to air ma penix with fresh air (which was a hoot!) thus rendering both heads more or less harmless and not lektrostatic init :]

soapy sponge does the job, just turn off the machine first

way too much effort. just put it in the dishwasher.

Edit: Don't of course before some muppet actually does this.

@TiMoN - should be ok if the vaccum has a plastic pipe/hose ?

Don't use pencils - graphite is a conductor, so you could short something. A wooden stick or plastic fork or something like that would be better.

Unplug all your fans before using mechanically displaced air as spinning fans generates an electric current which in the wrong voltages will destroy your equipment

He who says it cannot be done is interrupting the man doing it.

you know i never understood that, how does a vacuum generate static? i mean ok, don't use those silly little handhelds you plug into the wall, but surely a central whatever system like many houses these days have is fine? the pump and anything electric about it are 100 feet or more away all the time, and well grounded.

that being said, i just use a little high speed fan i have from an old project that's been crumbily wired into a wall plug to clean mine... i should clean it out again soon

edit: actually, i suppose jareu's explanation makes sense for vacuums too. huh
