Terms of use for fonts (like Verdana)
show user profile  horizon
I need to find out if certain fonts are ok to use embedded in our game.

Verdana is the font we're using for all the text in the game, so we have embedded standard characters in multiple sizes (rasterized).
We're also using some other fonts but mostly as part of a certain design in an image files (textures, menus, backgrounds...)

Could anyone share some light on this? A written and official terms of use would be most awesome

"Bitmapped fonts are considered to be computerized representations of a typeface (and are not protected by copyright law). " - at least according to US law...

Can't be of much more use right now, going out.

The first link points me to this page which says nothing (which is weird really, since it's a selling page) http://www.fonts.com/font/microsoft-corporation/verdana/regular

And the next 2 links made me google "Verdana EULA" which came up with this: http://www.ascenderfonts.com/store/license.aspx?id=31

Which I don't quite understand completely but I think it prevents us from having a character sheet as a bitmap and use that in the game. But i don't get if that's the EULA for the free font I've got in windows or the $30 one from the page before.

Any thoughts?
