Technics turntables
show user profile  rob@dynamic
Hi all,

I'm modeling some turntables during my lunch breaks to practice my modeling, about 1hrs work so far.

Added W.I.P. pics to blog site to save uploading to two places.

Any comments appreciated.

I'm going to tackle the arm tomorrow which i think is going to test my modeling skills.

W.I.P images found here:
http://kineorob.blogspot.com/

Thanks,

Rob

Added update images to here so people can see straight off. About 2hrs work in total, today added last few buttons, started on the arm, and did quick mat test for the matte plastic and metal i'll be using for some parts.

Any crits/comments would be much appreciated...

In the second image you can see the rivets going all around the plate, however they don't all show up when camera zoomed out (top image) any ideas why?

Check the blog for all updates,

Thanks

Rob

Sorry for the bump guys, but can anyone shed any light on whats happening with the plate rivets?

I'm really struggling to figure it out, I can't think what it can be?

Render a close up image if you can so we can see it better.

Are the dots partcles? physical mesh? do they all have the same material? are they on a layer that doesnt render?

The second image (Clay render) shows them up close. When I render up close they render fine, it's only when I render from a distance that some of them don't show up.

They are physical meshes, all the same material and all on a render-able layer.

I created them by simply copying a cylinder around a central pivot point.

I've highlighted in the image below, where they errors are occuring:

Thanks

Wierd. I take it they definitely ARE there and haven`t been inadvertently selected and moved around or whatever.. Have you tried switching render method/engine?

yea it's a strange one. Yep they def are there. I've not try'd switching render engine, as the material and lights are MR. I've tryed upping the samples as thought may have something to do with it but no luck.

A few more updates.

Another hours work today over lunch break.

Worked a bit more on the arm, and arm housing. Plus a few minor tweaks to the shell mesh, to accommodate the arm housing.

I still can't figure out whats going on the the circular rivets, they aren't even all showing up with a close up render now (see bottom image). Any suggestions welcome...

Thanks

Rob
