Does the Symmetry modifyer work on a spline?

It doesn't appear so.

It is an open spline

I got it...I had to close the spline

After applying the Symmetry modifier and moved the mirrored shape into place, I converted the thing to an editable poly. I then wanted to put a bevel on it but it wasn't available in the modifier list, nor the extrude. What's up with that? What didn't I do? Weld was checked.

Thanks Nick.

How come when I use Refine with the Connect button to create a vert and a segment the result isn't welded? After drawing the line across the frame, clicking at every segment to add a vert, after I exit our ofer Refine I can move the verts away from the spline

That's just one of the things with splines. You can click fuse, then weld, but if it's more than two lines coming to a point it won't weld. You get around this by drag-selecting your verts (so you get 1, 2 or 3 of them at the same time).

Yeah, that's working correctly. You're just doing it incorrectly when you select verts. Don't just click on a vert, drag-select it/them... like I said. Verts don't need to be welded for splines, they just need to be in the same world-space.

P.S. I did deliberately show that you have to drag select each vert in the video.
