Swords

Got a couple of swords I'm going to make for a short, thought I'd throw em up for some advice and direction

This one is going to be carried by a demon... I'm going to work on the bottom part of the handle right now. Any ideas on what could make it better?

i think it'd look better without the wings and bottom jaw personally
rough leather wrap on the handle- not the samurai diamond wrap pattern, not the right type of pig-sticker for that
skull on both sides- a front and a back of a sword doesn't really make sense
smaller and adjusted version of the skull on the pommel maybe, but definately a seperate piece than the handle and keeping to the skull/ bones theme would help the overall look
i like the seperate elements- but not on the same object :)

very very nice. IMO, the wings should be slightly larger and the handle slightly thicker. try to visualize the tang going through the handle, it wouldn't be very thick and would eventually bend with a thick ass blade like that. also, the tapered bit under the skull would make the hand slip down all the time. is it a one handed or a two handed sword?

He who says it cannot be done is interrupting the man doing it.

Isss niiice. Definitely widen the grip, it's far too narrow at the moment. The pommel and base of the hilt are too large currently - but will be sorted when the grip is widened. Also the bottom part, might look better with a heavy, rounded hammered metal sphere shape, with a single spike coming out the bottom, or even with the skull as the overall shape.

I'm not sure if this is going to be cooler as a one handed or two handed... right now it's kinda lookin like a two handed, but I originally was thinking 1... I havn't completely designed the character for this sword yet, but he's not going to be overly muscular at all; in fact he'll prolly be pretty weak looking (although he's strong)

Cool, gonna widen the grip then and make a few different pommels. I like the idea of a hammered sphere, that could look cool, thanks guys

For reference, a claymore 2 handed sword.

Depending on how much toward the fantasy side of things you want to go, a sword should be balanced - and the very weight volume distribution of your pommel/hilt and blade looks a bit off. Look forward to seeing the demon itself :D

how about on the flat of the blade, add a dragons tail that eventually fades back into the flat of the blade?
