Switching constraint/controller in mid-animation?
show user profile  Nanne
Hello mates, I'm having a go at animation right now. Here is what I'm trying to do.

I have a target camera. I've used the path constraint controller via the motion panel and the camera target tracks my curve very nicley. After 50 frames though (at the end of the curve) I want the camera to leave the curve and start following a moving object instead, in this case a simple sphere. I played around with the Link constrint before and was able to switch between two animated objects. But I want one of the moving objects to be replaced by a curve as I said. How do I do that?

You could just have a dummy run along the spline, link the camera to the dummy and then link it to the moving sphere.

^^regarding the above, you cant animate a simple link. If you link to another object later on the whole aniamtion will be affected. You have to use a link constraint and add the objects to the list at th4e time they are to be linked to. Just thought I'd elaborate on the procedure ;)

Ah, right! :) It sounds like a very good and easy solution but if there is another method or tool for doing it I would like to learn it - just for fun :)

But for the moment I'll go for your solution, thanks mate :)

Edit: Ah, yes. Thanks Mr. G.

You are both right ;P That was what I was talkning about but when reading my own post I realise my explanation is a bit vague on that point :P
