New Swift-Switch Script (Includes V-Ray and Mental Ray Presets)
show user profile  ryanjon
Hello Guys...I've developed a script for Autodesk 3dsmax for Changing Renders. This Script also Includes Presets for V-Ray and Mental Ray. Just set the slider to your Preferred quality and render. For More Info and Download please visit:
http://swift-switch.co.cc/

I'll add Final Render support in one of the coming updates. Final Render Presets will be optimized and reduces render times.

I'll be adding Donation soon. If you find this useful please be kind to Donate as it will help me a lot.

*NEW UPDATE*

Swift-Switch now includes unique VRay OceanMtl and M-Converter (Material Converter [BETA]).

For VRay OceanMtl screenshots visit:http://swiftswitch.blogspot.com/2011/06/vray-oceanmtl-new-screenshots.html

For M-Converter screenshots visit:http://swiftswitch.blogspot.com/2011/06/m-converter-in-dotnet.html

Also includes Global Ambient Occlusion, Save/Load Presets, 2012 Nitrous Viewport Customization, Optimize Final Gather, Mini Rendering with different resolutions and more.

Hope you all like it

What it does is a little vague.

The website says it switches renderer, and resets the material slots and gives quality presets. Is that all it does?

Does it also convert any materials in, for example, a Vray scene into mental ray materials?

Can I load a vray scene, and click a button to convert the scene, the materials, etc to a mental ray scene?

Thanks for posting here.

material conversion here, might be helpful :

Donating towards the development of stuff you find useful helps develop it faster.

Indeed it is. :)

Thought Satheesh might find it useful too.

Indeed, a script for going back and forth between renderers that converts the materials and settings intelligently would be a great addition to Max. I'd donate to that.

Do you often switch between them? I wouldn't know since I'm on vray from before mr was included in max, so I don't switch from vray since I don't really know anything else

Why don't you release it for free? Support the community that you take advantage of yourself.

If you develop a plugin or a really serious script that takes a lot of time to maintain, then think about charging.

@Horizon, I don't switch back and forwards often, but I do frequently have to work with files that have been saved with Vray materials, and a quick method of removing all traces of vray from these files would be occasionally useful. Even better if it could change the materials to A&D materials.

Not being negative, but it's pretty trivial to change render engine, and they have quality sliders built in (at least mr does). What does this script offer? I am slightly lost as to what it does.

@Nik Clark
I made this script to make rendering easier for those who are not familiar with V-Ray and Mental-Ray. In one of the coming updates i'll add Final Render support and trust me.....final render presets will work just like SolidRocks for V-Ray...optimizing render times....and i started working on MAXScript barely for 2 months only so please.......gimme time and i'll try to include Material Conversions

ryanjon, please excuse my apparent negativity. I'm sure your script will be really helpful to some people. It sounds like you have put a lot of work into it.
